The public is invited to celebrate the planting of our city’s first urban orchard.
The Etienne Brule Community Orchard inauguration is happening Wednesday, November 16 at 1 p.m. at the orchard site adjacent to the Etienne Brule community facility – 241 Albert Street West.
The Orchard initiative was recently awarded a $25,000 CN EcoConnexions From the Ground Up grant for exhibiting high standards of sustainable development, community engagement, and technical expertise.
To officially launch the project, the ceremony will feature Drew Redden, CN’s Community Affairs Lead and Raymond Carriere, Founding President – Communities in Bloom.
“The Etienne Brule Community Orchard encourages community sustainability through tree plantings and enhanced green space,” says Victoria Prouse, Project Coordinator – Downtown Development.
