The maple leaf stones that were so damaged by the elements were removed last year and we haven’t seen them since.
Public Works has had the stones all along but we haven’t heard of their fate ’til tonight.
The stones, commemorating the Sault’s famous, are going to be remade or cleaned for a cost of $20,000.
Their fate may be to be placed in planters along Queen Street.
Councillor Niro asked for them to be placed on display somewhere but the response was that they were so damaged it wouldn’t be flattering.
