Record amount of cans collected!


Students and business came together once again to help the needy in the community.

The third annual “We Scare Hunger” part of the Free the Children campaign collected more than 8,000 cans to be distributed to a number of local charities.

img_7269Maitland Ford Lincoln has teamed up with the cause that allows their vehicles to transport the non-perishable goods to the recipient food banks in Sault Ste. Marie.

“The students sorted and organized their food donations Monday to be taken to the food banks this week, we have been working on over the month of October” said Judith Kovala from Maitland Ford Lincoln.

img_7250This year was expanded to include more schools and more students.

Maitland Ford Lincoln partners with the staff at each of the schools including Mario Rocchetta, Anick Champagne-Hickey , Cristina Guzzo-Brooks , Sister Mary Jo Radey and Linda Legacy.

img_7268Sault College, St. Mary’s College, St. Mary’s French Immersion and Holy Family participated this year.

The food banks involved include, St. Vincent, the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen, the Salvation Army, Pauline’s Place, Women in Crisis and Sault College.
