Update: Search in Goulais River area for two suspects

UPDATE 7 a.m.  – On November 3, 2016, at approximately 7:15 pm Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Emergency Response Unit (ESU) and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Canine Unit began conducting a ground search around the vicinity of Pickard Road in the Goulais River area for a male and female suspect who fled from a stolen vehicle. OPP Aviation Services – Helicopter Unit has now been deployed and will be attending the area.

It is believed that the suspects may be in the vicinity of Highway 17 North in Goulais River and police are asking passing motorists to exercise caution and not pick up any hitchhikers. Contact OPP should any person(s) be observed.

Police are asking residents in the area to ensure that their vehicle and homes are locked at this time.

Residents are urged to contact police to report any suspicious person(s) or activity in the area.
