These boots were meant for…

Some local firefighters had an extra pair of boots with them today, but not for wearing, for collecting.

Collecting as much money as possible that is.

The Sault Ste. Marie Professional Firefighters Association  were out front of the Canadian Tire store all day Friday for their annual boot drive. The fundraising effort for Muscular Dystrophy and other local charities raises about $5,000 in a day said Chris Plotycia, SSMPFFA MD Chair.

The local firefighters have raised an impressive $275,000 with their long standing boot drives since 1972.

  1. Great to see our firefighters continuing to support local charity. This group continues to give to the community through generous donations from our citizens who unselfishly come forth and give. Things are very difficult for some of our locals and it’s great to see people stepping up to help others. Well done.
