On the 12th of December 2016 officers with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, with the assistance of officers from the Patrol Services Division and Emergency Service Unit arrested 28 year old Andre Cormier of No Fixed Address in relation to a home invasion from December 4th 2016.
It is alleged that on December 4th 2016 the accused attended the West End residence of persons known to him and knocked on the door. One of the victims answered the door and the accused came inside. Once inside the residence, the accused took a sawed off shotgun from inside of his coat and pointed it at the victims while demanding money and drugs.
The accused fled the scene after receiving an amount of cash and drugs from the victims. Officers began an investigation on that date and a warrant was requested for the arrest of the accused. As a result of the investigation Andre Cormier has been charged with;
robbery with a firearm
using a firearm while committing an offence
pointing a firearm
unauthorized possession of a firearm
knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and;
possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The accused was located and arrested at approximately 11:40 P.M. on December 12th, 2016 and was held for bail court on December 13th.
