Snow squall warning in effect for: Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
Potential for whiteout conditions.
Snow squalls off Lake Superior are now shifting southward and will reach this Sault later this morning, creating potential for whiteout conditions. Squalls may shift a bit northward for a period this afternoon but will return tonight and continue into Thursday. Total snowfall amounts of 30 to 40 cm are expected
Wind gusts to 75 km/h may may accompany the squalls today. Winds chills are expected to be in the minus twenties through Thursday.
Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Road closures are possible.
