It is with deep regret that Ben passed away suddenly at home on the morning of Thursday, January 5, 2017.

Loving husband of Tina (Hendriks) for 55 years. Loving father of Michael (Patti), Maureen, Joey (Toni), Andrea Malboeuf (Ron) and Laura. Proud Opa of Riley Cano, David and Rebecca Cano and Ethan Malboeuf and dog Chaucer. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary (Matulak). Brother of the late Rev. Father Joe, late John (late Noreen, late Gertie), Michael (late Lucille), late Albert, late Henry (late Mary), Tony (Clarice), Cyril (late Rosemary), Stan (late Mona), late Steven and Margaret Newbold (late Richard, late Tom) (Harold). Brother-in-law of the late Albert Hendriks (Luisa) and the late John (Ruby). Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Ben was a very happy sports fan, especially hockey. He came to Sault Ste. Marie originally to play for the Greyhounds in the early 50’s and remained here working for Abitibi and St. Mary’s Paper. He was quite involved with the AAA Bantam Organization in Sault Major Hockey for the past 40 years and was inducted into the Sault Ste. Marie Sports Hall of Fame as both a player and a builder in 1997.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation or the Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
