On the 24th of January officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year old Derek Battagin of James Street in relation to a break and enter and theft.
It is alleged that on January 19th, 2017 the accused attended a property on Sherbourne Street and took a snow blower valued at $900.00 from the property. Later, on January 24th 2017 the accused is alleged to have entered a house in the 300 block of Northland Road and stolen several tools and other items with a total value of just under $1000.00.
Officers located the accused on January 24th as a result of a traffic stop and he was taken into custody. Mr. Battagin has been charged with;
2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime,
1 count of theft under $5000.00, and;
1 count of break and enter
He will appear in court on February 27th, 2017.
