The Algoma Thunderbirds basketball teams dropped a pair of decisions to the Windsor Lancers last evening at the George Leach Centre.
On the women’s side, Algoma fell 76-64 to the Number 6 ranked Lancers.
Jamerka Martin led the Thunderbirds in the loss with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Mairead Dunn chipped in with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
Algoma’s field goal percentage was 42 per cent. They shot 33.3 per cent from beyond the three-point line.
“I thought we worked hard tonight,” said Ryan Vetrie, Head Coach of the women’s team. “We have to value the ball better tomorrow and really focus on defensive rebounding.”
Emily Prevost led the Lancers with 21 points.
The men were downed by the Lancers, 89-47.
Elijah Butler and Damian Okungbowa earned 10 points apiece for Algoma.
Algoma shot 30.8 per cent from inside and 73.3 per cent from the line.
Mike Rocca led the Lancers with 20 points and 6 rebounds.
Algoma continues their doubleheader action against the Lancers this evening in the GLC at 6:00pm (women) and 8:00pm (men).
