In their final road games of the 2016-17 season, the Algoma Thunderbirds took on the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, Ontario.
In the women’s action, the Number 2 ranked Marauders jumped out to an early lead which they never relinquished. Unable to catch the Marauders, Algoma fell 87-41.
Jamerka Martin led Algoma with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Carriera Lamoureux, Karly Fracalanza, and Mairead Dunn all had 7 points in the loss.
Algoma shot 27.3 per cent from the field.
Danielle Boiago led McMaster with 24 points and 7 rebounds.
“I thought tonight we did some good things at times,” said Head Coach Ryan Vetrie. “We need to learn from the weekend and get ready for our last two home games next weekend.”
On the men’s side, Algoma kept it close in the first half. Unable to hold on in the final frame, Algoma fell 76-61.
Sean Clendinning led Algoma with 17 points and 2 rebounds. Cailum White and Reng Gum both earned double digits.
Algoma shot 32.3 per cent from the field.
Connor Gilmore led McMaster with 20 points.
Algoma finishes out their regular season at home next weekend in the GLC against the Laurentian Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers.
