The Algoma Thunderbirds basketball team took on the Brock Badgers basketball teams in St. Catharines, Ontario.
The women’s basketball team dropped a 66-45 decision.
Rebecca Wylie led Algoma with 13 points and 4 rebounds. Jamerka Martin earned 10 points.
Algoma shot 26.2 per cent from the field and 75 per cent from the line.
“It was one of those games we couldn’t get rolling offensively and it affected us defensively,” said women’s Head Coach Ryan Vetrie. “We had enough open looks but couldn’t knock anything down.”
Melissa Tatti had 21 points for Brock.
On the men’s side, Algoma was in the tough against the Number 4 ranked Badgers. Algoma’s strong offensive and defensive performance in the second half kept the game close down the stretch. Unable to hold on in the final two minutes, Algoma fell 72-55.
Jermaine Lyle led Algoma with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Sean Clendinning and Reng Gum both cracked the double digits.
Algoma shot 50 per cent from inside in the second half and 93.8 per cent from the charity stripe in the game.
Johneil Simpson earned 20 points for the Badgers.
Algoma has their final road games of the season tomorrow evening at 6:00pm (women) and 8:00pm (men) against the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton.
