Brown Launches 2nd Annual Northern Driving Tour

Today Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown announced his 2nd Annual Northern Driving Tour covering Northeastern Ontario. Launching tomorrow, Brown will be visiting Sault Ste. Marie, Chapleau, Timmins, Kapuskasing, New Liskeard, Cochrane, Haileybury and North Bay.

“Northern Ontario’s economic potential is significant – but this Liberal Government is failing to recognize it,” said Brown. “The North will be a priority for an Ontario PC government. I look forward to hitting the roads, putting some kilometers on my Chrysler’s odometer, and hearing what residents of Northern Ontario have to say.”

Having visited the area more than 20 times since becoming the Party Leader, Brown stated in a phone conversation with media that he is passionate about Northern Ontario and the issues both citizens and businesses in this part of the Province are facing despite having a wealth of resources. Topics Brown is looking forward to discussing while on tour include:

  • high hydro rates; despite having to “give away” surpluses to Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York, businesses and people continue to struggle to pay their hydro bills
  • health care; from overcrowded hospitals filled beyond capacity to cut backs resulting in the elimination of front line workers as well as other essential services such as home care
  • education; providing youth educations which provide career paths which are in demand
  • executive salaries; as cuts essential services continue, new VPs are being hired rather than allocating the monies where needed most

Brown will be back in Sault Ste. Marie Wednesday.
