Male Charged with Break and Enter

On the 8th of February 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year old Derek Battagin of James Street with regards to a Break and Enter.

It is alleged that at 6:00 a.m. the accused broke into the garage of a residence in the 200 block of Albert Street West.  Officers were able to respond quickly and the accused was observed fleeing the scene.  The accused was located after a short foot chase and taken into custody.

Mr. Battagin was charged with one count of break and enter and was held for bail court.

 

Male arrested for theft

On the 8th of February 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19 year old Dustin Betournay of Wellington Street East for theft related offences.

It is alleged that just after midnight on February 8th, 2017 the accused was going through vehicles in the 100 block of Weldon Avenue.  Officers located the accused a short distance away and found various stolen items on his person.

The accused was taken into custody and charged with one count of theft under $5000.00, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of trespass by night.  He was held in custody to appear in bail court.
