East End Postal Outlets Closed

If you live in the east end of town you’re out of luck if you want to send packages via Canada Post from two retail locations.

Canada Post confirmed to SaultOnline.com that the postal outlet located in the Churchill Plaza was closed on January 27th.  The postal outlet located in the Stamp N Win store at the store was shut down but another location is being sought said a Canada Post spokesperson in Cornwall Ontario. The postal outlet at the plaza has been there for about 50 years.

The satellite outlet was one of two postal outlets in the city’s eastend that has been shut down. A lottery kiosk in the Wellington Square Mall that also managed letters and packages for postage has also been shut down according to sources. The Wellington Square Mall location was not listed as a postal location on the Canada Post website, however the Stamp N Win location is still listed.

The spokesperson told SaultOnline.com that the service is only temporarily affected until the crown corporation finds a new location to serve the community’s needs. In the meantime, those living in the east side are now forced to travel downtown to the main post office or another satellite location such as the Canadian Tire store on McNabb street. The retail satellite locations helped customers with weighing packages and affixing the proper postage as well as over sea letters and parcels.

The Stamp N Win store will continue to be a lottery retailer as well as the Wellington Square Mall location.

  1. Why was the postal part of stamp and win removed from service at that location ?? There must be a need if the postal service is looking for a new outlet.
