Snow Squall Warning Issued


Be aware that Highway 17 north could be closed if snow squalls become heavy, though Sault Ste.Marie has not been included on the warning, snow squalls will be off and on for the next 24 to 48 hours.

Snow squall warning in effect for: Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay

Snow squalls are expected to develop this evening. Local snowfall amounts of 15 cm are likely by Thursday morning. The snow squall activity is forecast to continue through Friday.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Road closures are possible.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
