Play wrapped up in high school curling on Tuesday and both boys’ and girls’ League Champions have been declared.
Team Lemieux from St. Mary’s is the league champion of the Boys’ division. The team is made up of Skip Nick Lemieux, with Jake Reid, Andrew Berg and Taylor Longo. They finished league play with a record of 8-1, tied for first place with Team Palarchio also from St. Mary’s, but Lemieux was awarded first place on the basis of head-to-head play.
These two teams, along with Korah and White Pines who finished league play with records of 6-3, will play in a Page Play-off for the City Championship this Saturday, February 11th, at the Community First Curling Centre.
Six other boys teams will compete in a single-elimination play-off to determine the Consolation Champion.
Team McLean from Superior Heights is the league champion of the Girls’ division. The team is made up of Catherine Mesich, Erin McLean, Madeline Coutu and Brianna Hamilton. They will compete in a best of three play-off against the girls team from Korah on Saturday.
Both the boys’ and girls’ league winners along with the city champions will advance to the NOSSA Curling Championships being held in Sudbury on March 2-3.
