The W.J. McMeeken Centre on Goulais Avenue is scheduled to reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017, following the completion of the investigation into the carbon monoxide incident last week.
City staff are in the process of finalizing all of the actions recommended by third-party investigators to be completed before the facility is reopened to the public. These actions will be completed and verified by the third-party engineering firm prior to opening on Thursday.
A final report on the results of the investigation, including findings from Engineering and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, will be shared at a later date.
The health and safety of citizens and staff is paramount. The City would like to thank and acknowledge the patience and understanding of all stakeholders – in particular the community at large – in respecting this process.
Regular updates will continue beyond the reopening of the W.J. McMeeken Centre.
