Highway 17 North Now Open


UPDATE: OPP advise that the highway has been re-opened



The Sault Ste. Marie OPP are on the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 at the Mile Hill involving a car and a tractor trailer. The tractor trailer is jackknifed blocking traffic in both directions.

There is no detour available and it is not known if weather is a factor at this time.

Highway: 17

Location: Mile Hill

Brief Description of Event: The OPP have initiated a road closure due to a jackknifed tractor trailer blocking both lanes.

  1. I think they mean “Detour for all traffic” not available, such as transports, they aren’t allowed to go down the roads you’re talking about, thus, there is truly, no detour available “For all traffic”! Good job saultonline, keep up the good work.

  2. Rhilderley; If you are local you know the detour. Don’t think the OPP want to send several hours of heavy traffic down the old road when it’s not necessary.. Besides, can you imagine how many drivers that would be lost out there after having to find there way somewhere without GPS ?? I know people that can’t drive across town without it…Wonder what ever happened to the ability to read a map???
