It wasn’t human remains : Police

2

Just after 12:30 p.m. officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a report of found human remains on Whitefish Island. A person walking in the area reported finding a human hand in the water on the South side of Whitefish Island.

Officers attended the area and found the item partially submerged in water. When officers were able to get down to the area and retrieved the item from the water it was found to be a realistic prosthetic hand with blood on it and not an actual human hand.

Officers have now cleared the area in relation to this incident.

  1. The little pranksters, probably don’t realize the implications….Sure it’s a funny gag in local (between friends) cases, but when the police have to dispatch to an area and tie up cars and resources, it becomes a money issue. So if you little buggers are reading this, think twice next time.

  2. Title should have read: Possible human remains found..
No human remains were found, it was a prosthetic hand.
