Local Bowlers Represent Northern Ontario at YBC National Tournament in Guelph


This past weekend – April 22 – 24th, Six talented bowlers from Northern Ontario competed in the YBC National Championships in Guelph, Ontario.  Provinces from all across Canada competed in this 3 day competition.

In 14 games of Singles Competition:

Bantam Boy – Trenton Martyn – Thunder Bay, ON – Placed 7th

Bantam Girl – Molly Massicotte-Finch – Sault Ste Marie, ON – Placed 5th

Junior Girl – Chasity King – Sault Ste Marie, ON – Placed 5th

Junior Boy – Tyson Baxter – Thunder Bay, ON – Placed 3rd – BRONZE MEDAL WINNER

Senior Girl – Hayleigh Hayes-Sheen – Sault Ste Marie, ON – Placed 6th

Senior Boy – Aidan Bass – Sault Ste Marie, ON – Placed 2nd – SILVER MEDAL WINNER after a tie breaker game with Manitoba’s Liam Naylor – 214-210

Scholarship Winners

In Combo Team competition, The Girl’s Team finished in 7th spot and the Boy’s Team finished in 5th spot.

Each year, the Carl Malcolmson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to both the Senior Girl and Senior Boy with the highest average.  Aidan Bass won this scholarship in the Senior Boys Division with an average of 196.2.  Miranda Panas from Southern Ontario was the Senior Girls Division winner.
