The investigation into the carbon monoxide incidents at the W.J. McMeeken Centre on February 28, 2017 and March 19, 2017 has now been completed.
All of the upgrades recommended by the third-party engineering firm have taken place and have been verified by the firm in writing as being complete.
The facility will be open for regular business effective 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 and will be able to accommodate the 3 on 3 hockey tournament April 27 – 30, 2017. The facility will then close for the season on May 1, 2017.
A final report on all aspects of the incidents and subsequent investigation as well as the status of carbon monoxide detectors in all City facilities is expected to be issued in the coming weeks.
The City once again offers its appreciation to all stakeholders and the community at large for their patience and understanding.
