Last chance to attend the 50th Annual Maple Syrup Festival Last weekend, a couple of thousand people stopped in at the Royal Canadian Legion in Richards Landing for some all you can eat pancakes and sausages topped with St. Joseph Island Maple Syrup.
The Golden Anniversary of the Maple Syrup Festival was a wonderful and sticky event for local families and out-of-town guests. Mr. and Mrs. Burke traveling from Whitehorse Yukon were impressed with the magnitude of the Festival.
Parents came with their children and grand-children. Friends and co-workers enjoyed their meal served on bio-degradable plates. Afterwards, they checked out the various craft tables and purchased some St. Joseph Island Maple Syrup.
On Saturday morning, MP Carol Hughes and MPP Michael Mantha took a break from assisting the more than one hundred volunteers to present the Legion with certificates of recognition.
Events such as the Annual Maple Syrup Festival are an important part of keeping the Legion’s doors open. Fundraisers such as this one ensure the R.C.L. Branch 374 can continue to provide assistance to local Veterans and their families and to support the community, seniors, youth and various programs and organizations.
The Maple Syrup Festival hours are 8AM to 3PM. Cost is $9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors and $5.00 for children under 12. For more information 705-246-2494.
