It’s not all about the socks! It’s McHappy Day at McDonald’s Restaurants across the country. Why stop in to buy a Buy a Big Mac®, hot McCafé® beverage or Happy Meal® today? Well for starters, $1 from the purchase of each of these items is being donated directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities® and The Children’s Foundation to help support 30,000 families.
The proceeds will be used to help families stay together at 14 Ronald McDonald Houses while their child is being treated at the hospital as well as other local children’s charities like the Camps of Hope program where the joys and adventure of camp is often a child’s first chance to venture outside their own neighbourhood.
Why give McDonald’s a free plug here on SaultOnline? Well like many other families in our neck of the woods, we personally experienced just how much of an impact these charitable efforts can make when our niece was born with a small hole in her heart. She spent the first several months of her life at a hospital down in Toronto where if it wasn’t for the Ronald McDonald House nearby, we couldn’t even imagine how much more difficult these times would have been.
Now, how do the socks play into this fundraising campaign? Well this morning when my wife and I stopped by to grab a coffee and a breakfast wrap, we were asked at the takeout window if we would like to buy a pair of hero socks for $5. The proceeds were also being donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities®. A great cause that keeps your feet warm… why not! 🙂
