The following is a statement from Ontario PC candidate Ross Romano on the Sault Ste. Marie by-election:
“I am proud to represent the Ontario PC Party in the upcoming Sault Ste. Marie by-election.
Since January, my team and I have been working tirelessly to reach out to the people of Sault Ste. Marie. We’ve knocked on the doors of every home in the city and I’ve spent a lot of time listening to the hopes and concerns of our community. From day one, people have told me that we need real meaningful change at Queen’s Park. I am eager and excited to continue our campaign and deliver that change and we will continue to knock on every door in the City once again
After 14 years of Liberal government the people of Sault Ste. Marie work harder, pay more and get less. Doing business in Ontario is harder and families feel like they are falling behind. This government’s legacy is one of unaffordable hydro rates, slashed health care services, and billions of dollars wasted on Liberal scandals. The Wynne government has offered a series of half measures and empty promises to try and cover up the problems they have created. The people of Sault Ste. Marie will not be so easily fooled.
For too long the Wynne Liberals have taken Sault Ste. Marie for granted. It is time for Sault Ste. Marie to send a message to the government that we deserve better.
The NDP is not an alternative. Prior to this Liberal government, we endured over a decade of NDP representation that failed to create the kind of meaningful growth our city needs. In fact, it was the NDP who recently propped up the Liberal’s Green Energy Act and as a result our community watched powerlessly as hydro rates skyrocketed over 300 percent. I think that the NDP candidate is a good person, but he and the NDP offer nothing more than the same old, same old.
I am the only candidate that represents a change for the better for Sault Ste. Marie and who has the energy to fight for lower hydro bills, better health care and jobs for our community. Most importantly, I am the only candidate that will fight for YOU the people of Sault Ste. Marie and to help us become the economic engine of the North.”
