Two Murals, Three Days


Two Mac Stores in the City’s west end have a new look. As first reported on Monday, a Toronto artist has teamed up with Mac’s stores across the Province and local police services to paint murals with spray paint.Two Mac’s stores, one on Goulais Avenue and the other on Wellington Street West, were used as the canvas.

The Wellington Street West location features a mural featuring the Soo Greyhounds.

Locally, the Sault Police Service held a contest for mural ideas from local youth. Over 400 submissions were recieved and narrowed down to four youth. Those ideas were incorporated into a mural depicting life in Sault Ste. Marie.

The artist, known as Magic Finnga Wong has painted 20 Mac’s stores. The unveiling was also used to announce another new initiative between Mac’s, Sault Police Services and Soo Greyhounds with the re-introduction of the Soo Greryhounds hockey cards available at the Mac’s store starting this fall.
