Sault Woman Caught Shoplifting in Batchewana


On June 14, 2017 at approximately 1:15 pm Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police were advised of a shoplifting incident that occurred from a business in Batchewana Bay. A description of the female suspect and items stolen were observed on video surveillance as well as a description of the vehicle she was driving.

As a result of police investigation, 47-year-old Shelley Lynne Murphy of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to Section 335(b) Criminal Code (CC)
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to Section 334(b)CC
  • Two counts of Fail To Comply with Probation Order 733.1(1)CC

The accused was released on Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on July 24, 2017.
