Ball Hockey Tournament To Help with Special Olympics

On Thursday, July 6 2017 at Centre Ice Bar & Grill (above the Pee Wee arena) there will be a charity ball hockey tournament taking place beginning at 6 pm.

Six teams have signed up to participate in the 1st ever Law Enforcement ball hockey tournament to support Special Olympics Ontario. At approximately 8 pm, a very exciting and fun game is scheduled featuring many of the local Special Olympic athletes taking on the Institutional Crisis Intervention Team (ICIT) from the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. Meanwhile, an all you can eat wings and fries buffet will be happening upstairs at Centre Ice Bar & Grill for $20.00 and includes a chance to win the door prize. All money raised will be donated to Special Olympics Ontario and will help support the 2019 Special Olympic Winter Games taking place here in Sault Ste. Marie.

Special Thanks to Centre Ice Bar & Grill, and OPSEU Local 678 for sponsoring this amazing event, as well as Joanne Harman for arranging for our Special Olympic Athletes to participate in all of the fun! The hard work and dedication from all of the volunteers has made this charity event happen, and is greatly appreciated.

This is a Law Enforcement Torch Run event, and has been made possible by Correctional Officers at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. A strong sense of community and giving back are core principles that are greatly valued by those who work in law enforcement.
