GoFundMe page set up on behalf of Micheal Doan

A tragic accident has taken the life of a local hockey star, Micheal Doan.  The 25 year old goalie was killed in an automobile collision in Rochester, Minn  over the weekend.

A GoFundMe spokesperson is reaching out on behalf of the fundraising site.

“I wanted to let you know about a memorial fund that was started for Michael Doan Jr. – a 25-year-old Sault St. Marie, ON, native and a goaltender in the Southern Professional Hockey League, who passed away in a tragic car accident in Rochester, Minn, this past Saturday.” stated a GoFundMe Spokesperson.

A GoFundMe campaign was started in the hopes of raising enough funds to cover the costs of Michael’s funeral and any other unexpected expenses that will come with his death. The Ontario community has come together to support Michael’s family during this difficult time, raising more than $14,700 in just 18 hours to go towards the cause.

  1. Such a tragedy to lose such an upstanding young man in the prime of life.
It is also a tragedy that gofundme takes 8% of the total donations, plus 30 cents for each donation.
Worse than credit card companies, they get rich from others misfortunes.
There has to be a better alternative that gets ALL of the money to the family?
