Male arrested for robberies


On July 25th, 2017 offices with the Break and Enter Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year old Derby Turner of Knox Avenue in relation to 2 robbery investigations.

It is alleged that July 24th, 2017 the accused attended a convenience store in the 600 block of Wellington Street West wearing a mask and demanded cash from the clerk. The accused took an assortment of lotto tickets and fled the store.

Later, on July 25th, 2017 the accused attended a Gas Station in the 200 block of Wellington Street West. The accused was using a hooded sweater to cover his face and was brandishing a knife while demanding cash. The accused obtained an amount of cash from the clerk and fled the area.

Police were able to identify the accused and he was arrested on July 25th. He has been charged with;

2 counts of robbery,
2 counts of wearing a disguise; and,
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
He was held for bail court.
