Another Gas Hike Hits The Sault

Fuel prices in Sault Ste. Marie are on their way up for a second time in two days.

Circle K upped their prices at the noon hour Wednesday from $1.16 to $1.22.9 a litre. Others are expected to follow as the long weekend always means an increase at the pumps.

Sault Ste. Marie prices were pegged at just $1.06 a litre on Monday. News of a shortage due to refineries in Texas closing down as a result of tropical storm Harvey forced a ten cent increase at the pumps locally.

If you recall Sault Ste. Marie enjoyed low gas prices at the beginning of summer when prices dropped to just .97 cents a litre in June.

  1. Filled my truck in Ontario 2 weeks ago, $142. Filled up in the U.S. last week (same amount of fuel), $72 American.

  2. There should be NO increase until all of the gas in the holding tanks is used up. The storm is just an excuse to raise prices.

    • They will gouge at every opportunity and the government lets them.
This is why I buy my gasoline in Soo Michigan. There is a $20 minimum savings per fill up for me not to mention the substantial savings on other things. If they want people to shop Canadian they need to stop gouging us at every turn. How can you blame anyone on a fixed income for trying to make ends meet?
