“Oh Yeah! O Yeah! The annual Red Rock parade and picnic marking our 55th year on the shores of Lake Superior and celebrating Canada’s 150th year as a nation shall begin,” announced the Parade Marshall.
A picture perfect summer day began as many friends, family and neighbours gathered to begin an afternoon of sharing food, fun, and stories of our times spent together at Dennis Township South.
The tractor parade was decked out in red and whites, complete with a Marching Band and youngsters riding bikes, ATV’s and walking-waving to the many neighbours who gathered at the ends of their driveways to be part of the fun and festivities. A tractor trailer spontaneously joined in as he came out to pick up a piece of his equipment at a neighbour’s site.
At the picnic area many volunteers had prepared gift draws with generous donations from Sault Businesses, and donors. There was no shortage of laughter and conversations as neighbours met and greeted each other while enjoying potluck lunch, BBQ and fun activities for the kids. It was a chance to meet new friends and reconnect with old friends who share a common love of this beautiful landscape.
Some call this place Red Rock; others call it camp, while many more people call it home. The 2018 annual calendar photo competition entries were on display. These photos captured the moments why the residents love to spend time on the lakeshore.
2018 Calendars will become available for purchase ($15) commencing early November 2017. Email your order: [email protected]
