Get ready Sault Ste. Marie! More than 35 high-performance speed boats are descending on the city this weekend. From Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6, the community is hosting the 2017 CAN/AM President’s Cup VIP Poker Run.
Throughout the weekend, there’s no shortage of opportunity for citizens to take part in the event. The agenda includes:
Friday, August 4th
2 pm to 5 pm – Poker Run boats on display at Roberta Bondar Pavilion
- Cast your ballot for the People’s Choice Awards in the following categories: Best Graphics, Best Engine, Best Rig, Best Audio, and Best Dressed Crew. Ballots will be entered for a chance to win a Ride of a Lifetime for two people on Sunday. Voting ends at 4pm on Saturday.
5 pm – Licensed area opens under the Roberta Bondar Pavilion, sponsored by Northern Superior Brewery. Food trucks will be on site. Boats can be viewed at Roberta Bondar Marina.
5 pm to 7 pm – Meet the Poker Runners and marshal boat volunteers at HD Sports Grill
7 pm – Opening remarks under the Roberta Bondar Pavilion
7:30 pm – Hustle Brothers on stage under the Roberta Bondar Pavilion
Saturday, August 5th
8 am to 10 am – Boats on Display at the Roberta Bondar Marina
9:30 am – National Anthems
10 am – Start Your Engines!
10:15 am – Poker Run boats depart Roberta Bondar Marina!
3:30 pm – Boats return to Sault Ste. Marie (time approximate)
10 pm – Gateway Casino after-party – Live music event!
For spectators, the best vantage points to watch the action along the route are: St Joseph Island Bridge, Richards Landing Municipal Marina.
- From 12pm to 1:30pm – The boats will be docked at Hilton Beach Marina
- 2pm Thessalon, 2:30pm Fly By Hilton Beach and St Joseph Island Bridge
- If observing from the U.S. side, Rotary Park in Sault, Michigan

Charity Ride of a Lifetime event in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie

11 am to 3 pm – Photo booths, face painting, fire trucks, police cruisers, kids inflatables and bubble station – open invitation
11 am to 2 pm – Charity Rides available, $150/Adult and $60/12 and under
