MINI drivers from United States and Canada gathered in St. Ignace August 5th for a third attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest parade of MINIs. The record is currently held by the London & Surrey MINI Club Owners in the UK, with 1,450.

To the disappointment of many, the group was only 123 vehicles shy of breaking the world record, with the unofficial count from MINI of Grand Rapids— the event’s organizer— now at 1,328.

The near miss did not dampen the spirits of the MINI owners, who enjoyed the parade across the Mackinac Bridge and a weekend of fine food, live music, street performers and genuine St. Ignace hospitality.

Over $10,000 was raised for Parkinson’s Disease Research with donations going to the Van Andel Institute’s Purple Community Awareness Program.

MINI of Grand Rapids and the MINI owners have promised they will be back in 2019 to once again challenge the record.

Many MINI owners from Ontario took part in the challenge and organizers are sure, if 300 more MINI’s from Canada participated the 2019 challenge, London & Surrey would be defeated and an International victory would be in order.
