Brighten Someone’s Day with a Smile!

2017 Smile Cookie Campaign

Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign 2017 supporting ARCH Hospice and Algoma Autism Foundation officially launched this morning!

Ready to smile? The Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie campaign has returned to bring smiles to communities across Canada! From September 11th to the 17th, you can purchase a freshly baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie for $1 at participating restaurants across the country, with one hundred percent of the proceeds being donated by Tim Hortons restaurant owners to local causes.

This year, ARCH Hospice and The Algoma Autism Foundation have both been selected to share proceeds from the campaign. This means $0.50 from each Smile Cookie will be donated to each organization. The 2016 campaign raised $32,000 for ARCH, helping the hospice reach its annual fundraising goal of $750,000.

2017 Smile Cookie Campaign

SaultOnline caught up with some volunteers dressed up as giant cookies, assisted by officers from our local OPP Detachment, at the Great Northern & Second Line Tim Hortons location where they were handing out information sheets to patrons at the drive-thru to help kick off the campaign.

Starting in 1996, the Smile Cookie campaign helped raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario. Today the event has developed into a major fundraiser at Tim Hortons restaurants. Through the campaign, more than 460 local charities, hospitals and community programs are supported. Last year, Smile Cookies raised over $7 million across Canada.

ARCH and The Algoma Autism Foundation will be challenging the community to purchase cookies as random acts of kindness. When you buy a cookie for a neighbour, boss, or even a stranger, capture the moment on camera and upload your photo to Facebook using the hashtag #SooSmiles. You’ll be automatically entered to win a $100 Tim Hortons gift certificate!

For full contest details, event information, and pre-order forms, visit You can also pre-order your cookies by the dozen, by contacting ARCH Hospice at [email protected] or call 705-942-1556 ext. 223.

More information on Algoma Autism Foundation
The Algoma Autism Foundation was founded in 2013 by a dedicated group to help improve services for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. For example, with the help of our many generous community partners, the AAF hosts a regular gymnastics club, Sensitive Santa, Trunk or Treat, a Sensitive Easter Egg Hunt, and many other social and recreational activities. The AAF has donated more than $16,000 in equipment for local students and schools since 2013, including iPad Minis for local students who are non-verbal, and special needs swings and trampolines. The AAF also donates RF beacon bracelets (29 to date) through Project Lifesaver to protect individuals who are a flight risk. The AAF is 100% local and 100% volunteer. All money raised stays local.
