Male arrested in corruption investigation


On September 14th, 2017 officers with the Investigation Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 54 year old Richard Dubeau of Timmins Ontario in relation to a corruption offence.

On September 7th, 2017 The Timmins Police Service requested the assistance of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in conducting an investigation which involved criminal allegations against a member of the Timmins Municipal Council.

It is alleged that on August 25th, 2017 the accused approached a business in Timmins and solicited a sales transaction that would benefit him personally in exchange for his assistance as a member of the Municipal Council.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested on September 14th, 2017 and charged with one count of corruption of a municipal official.  He will appear in court on November 7th, 2017 in Timmins Ontario.
