Officers with the Traffic Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are currently at the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the North West corner of the parking lot at 293 Bay Street.

At approximately 12:15 today a single motor vehicle with 2 occupants was travelling Eastbound in the parking lot on the West side of the building.  As the vehicle travelled towards the building it failed to stop and struck the North West side of the building.

The vehicle then continued on the walkway on the North Side of the building and struck a pedestrian and then two parked motor vehicles.  As a result, the pedestrian was extracted from under one of the parked motor vehicles by Fire Services.

The pedestrian was taken from the scene by EMS and transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.  A short time later, the pedestrian, a 58 year old female from Sault Ste. Marie succumbed to her injuries.

At this time officers with the Traffic Services Division will remain on the scene and the investigation is continuing.
