Summer officially ended and Autumn has begun, but you wouldn’t know it. Abnormally high temperatures are forecast to continue right into next week.
While the leaves are turning and the kids are back to school , Sault Ste. Marie will see it’s hottest days yet.
Keep in mind the normal temperatures we see at this time of year is around 17c. The last few days have been above that and starting today we will be almost double what we normally have.
Forecast highs for today and lasting through to Tuesday will reach 27c to 30c and with humidity it will feel like mid July.
The highest temperature reached on this date was 25c in 1946.
So why are we experiencing such warm weather now? you can contribute the jet stream and a large high pressure system known as the Bermuda High. It’s now starting to throw hot moist air into the great lakes and will continue to do that all weekend long. The jet stream is also very much in a summer pattern riding well above the great lakes allowing that warm air to flood in.
Things start to break down Tuesday night with a passage of a cold front that will eventually return us back to normal levels.
