White Pines Given The All Clear After Bomb Scare

The Algoma District School Board confirms that the Sault Ste. Marie Police conducted a thorough search of White Pines Collegiate & Vocational School this afternoon and have given clearance for classes to resume as usual tomorrow (Thursday, September 28).  This follows the evacuation of the school earlier today due to a threat to the school.

Counsellors and staff will be available at the school for students who may need support following this situation.

The Algoma District School Board wishes to thank parents, staff and students for their cooperation, patience and understanding during today’s evacuation procedures.

Police Services Update 2:17pm

At approximately 1:00 p.m. officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School regarding a threat that has been made indicating a bomb was in the school.

Officials are following the emergency protocol and all students have been safely evacuated from the school.  Officers are still on scene conducting the investigation however nothing has been located at this time.  Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Statement from ADSB

Algoma District School Board (ADSB) has confirmed that White Pines Collegiate has been evacuated due to a threat to the school.  All students and staff have been evacuated.

SSM Police Services officers are on site at White Pines and have secured the building.
