One pair will be given away each week starting October 2 and continuing until February.

1 in 10 Canadians has kidney disease and millions more are at risk. Kidney Clothes is encouraging people to show support for those affected by kidney disease and also help our environment by donating any unwanted clothing and cloth-based goods. These include bedding, draperies, pillows, linens, shoes, purses and outerwear.

The average North American throws away over 80 lbs. of clothing a year and 90 per cent of those items could be recycled or reused. Kidney Clothes promotes the recycling of textiles and other household goods that might otherwise end up in landfills. Taking your unwanted clothing and small household items to the Sault Saint Marie donation centre is an easy way to make sure those items are reused or properly recycled.

The funds raised through the Kidney Clothes program are used by The Kidney Foundation of Canada to provide hope, support, empowerment and engagement to all Canadians affected by kidney disease. This means people in the Sault Saint Marie community will have access to more Kidney Foundation programs which include financial assistance, peer support, and educational materials such as the Living with Kidney Disease patient manual that is given to every newly diagnosed kidney patient.
