Today, Mayor Provenzano offered the following remarks regarding the appointment of Asima Vezina as Algoma University’s new President and Vice-Chancellor.
“For many years, Algoma University has played a vital role in our community providing excellent learning and development opportunities. I congratulate Asima Vezina on her appointment as Algoma University’s new President and Vice-Chancellor and welcome her leadership.
Asima’s academic background is extensive and comes at an important time in the University’s development. As a proven leader, her experience and passion for education will undoubtedly be an asset to the University and to our community. An accomplished and respected academic, I am confident that Asima will seize the opportunities ahead, charting a successful course for the future of Algoma University. I look forward to working with her supporting our community’s growth as our relationship with Algoma University continues to deepen.
I would also like to offer sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Celia Ross for her commitment to Algoma University during her tenure as Acting President and Vice-Chancellor. With her leadership we have created a strong foundation of partnership, innovation and community connections that will continue to help lead Sault Ste. Marie into the future.
