The following statement was issued by Ross Romano, Sault Ste. Marie MPP
Kathleen Wynne and her Liberal government continue to ignore Northern Ontario voices in an important decision making process.
A Legislative committee yesterday headed by Liberal MPP Lou Rinaldi voted down a motion that would have required the Ontario Municipal Board to guarantee Northern representation when dealing with appeals. Rinaldi, as you might recall, recently made headlines when he called Northern Ontario a “No Man’s Land”.
In response to MPP Rinaldi’s comments, MPP Ross Romano extended an invitation to the member to join him for a day touring his riding of Sault Ste. Marie.
Rinaldi would later decline the invitation.
“The committee’s decision to deny Northern Ontario a voice on the board is just the latest demonstration that Kathleen Wynne and her Liberal government do not care about the North” said Romano. “Housing is not just a Toronto or GTA based issue. The North deserves a voice too.”
“I am calling on the Liberal government to change their position on this important issue for Northern Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie. We deserve to have a voice at the Ontario Municipal Board appellate level as well.”
Mr. Romano seems surprised that the Liberals are not attentive to him. When you are a backbencher in the opposing party that’s all you get. If the Conservatives had a credible leader they might have pulled off a victory in the next provincial election. It’s not going to happen. Mr. Brown is a great critic of the Liberals…AND THE LIBERALS DESERVE IT…but if he wants to win he will have to come up with a plan that will at least somewhat improve our situation here in this once great province. No One expects him to come up with a balanced budget but if he doesn’t come up with something SOON..he may give the Liberals a minority win next year.
Liberals are always bad news, provincially or federally.
You might as well piss into the wind, you will obtain the same result.
