I am very pleased to hear the news from Algoma University today regarding the appointment of Asima Vezina as president and vice-chancellor. I’d like to acknowledge her accomplishments and to congratulate her.
It’s clear, in reviewing her qualifications, that Asima has a combination of education and experience that are extraordinary. Her career in education, her history of community involvement, her dedication to inclusiveness, and her compassion for mental health issues are all going to serve her very well moving forward in her new role. It’s obvious she encompasses the leadership qualities to further Algoma University’s mission. Her passion for the North and for education will be a huge benefit to the university and to our community.
Congratulations, Asima, and I wish you the best of luck in the future.
