Officers Investigating Shooting

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on November 11th, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call for service regarding a shooting in the 500 block of Cathcart Street.

Upon arrival officers located a lone male victim who was suffering from a gun shot wound.  The victim was transported to the hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

At this time it is not known if the victim and suspect(s) are known to each other.  Officers with the Investigation Services Division are continuing the investigation and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at (705) 949 6300.

  1. At no point has the article stated that drugs were in any way related to what has happened so rather than pointing fingers and making assumptions let us just feel sorry that someone was shot and hope they will be alright and that the shooter will be caught.

  2. Something needs to be done that’s for sure … I’m tired of the break ins , needles outside the backdoor of where I work , of dealing with these junkies trying to steal everyday from the mall or where I work … I’m just done !!!

  3. I live near where this happened. The church, (or I should say former church) turned the old living quarters at the rear of the church into a rooming house. Since that has happened police have been on the scene there many, many times. We find dirty needles all the time in the alley behind there and hear and see a lot of fighting and yelling and foot traffic coming and going. Things have seemed to escalate in the last month or so, with cops there too many times to count, so this doesn’t surprise me at all sadly.
    It’s a shame and should be closed down for the safety of everyone.
