Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation Sets Monthly Passenger Level Record in October

Sault Airport

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport saw a monthly record for passenger levels in October 2017.  A total of 20,667 passengers flew into and out of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport on Air Canada Express, Bearskin Airlines, and Porter Airlines, making it the busiest month ever.  The previous monthly record was set in August 2017 at 20,055.

The October record was a 3.1% increase over October 2016.  To date since the start of the 2017/2018 fiscal year in April the Airport has seen a 0.1% decrease over the previous fiscal year.

The past 12 months of operation have seen 212,338 passengers flow through the Sault Ste. Marie Airport.  Seven of the past twelve months have set records for that month in a year.

  1. Is there a way to track if this is business/tourism coming in to the Soo or going out? If it is people coming into Northern Ontario and using the Soo as a gateway I think this is amazing. If it is people taking advantage of lower flight prices to take their business and dollars elsewhere it could be a greater cause for concern and show a need to re-focus advertising initiatives.
