On November 16th, 2017 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 3 individuals as a result of a traffic stop.
Just after 9:00 p.m. officers responded to a call for service regarding a possible impaired driver. Officers stopped the vehicle and found that the driver, 34 year old Shane Williams of Albert Street West was bound by a recognizance with a curfew of 6:00 p.m.
The driver was placed under arrest and officers then spoke with the other two occupants in the vehicle. Officers observed a canister of bear mace on the floor of the vehicle along with various pieces of drug paraphernalia.
At that time 26 year old Isabelle Bouchard of First Avenue and 19 year old Emily Solomon of Sweetgrass Road were taken into custody. Officers searched the vehicle and located 5.93 grams of methamphetamine, 1.15 grams of cocaine and a small amount of fentanyl. Officers also located an extendable baton and a spring assisted knife in addition to various tools such as a pry bar, flashlight and bolt cutters.
All three of the accused have been charged with;
3 counts of possession of a controlled substance,
3 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and;
1 count of possession of break in tools
In addition, Mr. Williams has also been charged with 3 counts of failure to comply with his recognizance while Ms. Solomon has been charged with 2 counts of failure to comply with her recognizance and one count of breach of probation. Ms. Bouchard has additionally been charged with one count of breach of probation. All three were held for bail court.
