With the significant snow fall over the past few days, the City’s Public Works team would like to provide the following updates and reminders.
Staff are currently working to keep the roadways safe and clear. Snow continues to be cleared first from the main and collector roadways followed by residential areas. As a result of extensive snowfall and poor weather conditions, teams will begin scraping snow pack from roadways while continuing its regular snow removal program.
To assist in efficiently clearing roadways, Public Works reminds residents of the following:
– Snow forts in roadside snowbanks are prohibited as crews continue snow removal
– The parking by-law remains in effect. Motorists are not permitted to park on city streets during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m.
– Basketball and hockey nets should be removed from roadways to further assist in street clearing. The city is not responsible for damage of nets if left by the roadside.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks residents for their patience and cooperation in helping to keep our streets safe and clear this winter. For more information, residents may contact Public Works at 705.759.5201 or email [email protected].
