The Christmas season is a time of year for us all to celebrate. It is a time for us to be together with our neighbors, friends and family and it is a time for giving. We celebrate all the gifts we’ve been blessed with earlier in the year. In the spirit of giving, we consider those who are less fortunate, and we give so they may have cause to join in the celebration. It is in this celebration that we look forward, with hope, to the year that lies ahead. This past year we have seen many wonderful community events that have helped to bring our community together as neighbours. Having been elected Member of Provincial Parliament earlier this year, I have had the pleasure of being in attendance at many of these events. I want to thank each and every one of you who has invited me to be a part of your special day and I look forward to commemorating many more of our city’s milestones in the future. While I reflect on the previous year, I want to thank all those people who have helped me along the way and I want to thank everyone who thoughtfully spent time this year volunteering within our community; those who donated time, money, or other items to local organizations and charities, or who simply helped support a friend or neighbour in any way.Last week I attended the Christmas Cheer Toy and Food packing event and I was incredibly moved at the site I witnessed there. Hundreds of fellow Saultites gathered at 7:00 in the morning and volunteered their time to help make the holiday season extra special for less fortunate families and individuals. With every event I witness in Sault Ste. Marie, I am constantly reminded of what an incredible community we are. Our residents are never afraid to roll up their sleeves and get to work when called upon. I remain convinced that we can overcome any obstacle when we all work together to make our city the best it can be. There is no doubt in my mind that we have reason to celebrate what 2018 will bring. On behalf of my family and I, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope that everyone has a joyous holiday season filled with love and kindness and that you are all as excited as I am for a new year of prosperity for everyone in our community; and please remember while you celebrate this coming season to make sure and celebrate in a safe and responsible way.All the best,Ross Romano
