Sault man charged with prohibited weapon after traffic complaint

OPP SEIZE PROHIBITED WEAPON AT TRAFFIC STOP

(ESPANOLA, ON) – On Sunday December 24, 2017 at approximately 8:19 a.m., officers from the Manitoulin detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 17 in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, Ontario.

Officers stopped the passenger vehicle and determined that the driver was suspended and in possession of controlled drugs.

Police seized a quantity of suspected marijuana.

Furthermore, officers located a prohibited weapon within the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher DUCLOS, age 33, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, has been charged with:

-Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition, contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code (CC)

-Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marijuana – Under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

-Driving While under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario on March 5, 2018.
