Man answers door, Points gun at police

On January 19th, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 36 year old Steven Aguonie of Wellington Street East for weapons offences.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. officers attended the accused’s residence regarding a noise complaint.

Officers knocked on the door and when the accused answered the door he was pointing a handgun at the officers.

Officers directed the male to drop the weapon and after several commands he complied.

The accused was safely taken into custody and the weapon was seized.

Upon a close inspection, officers found that the item was a very realistic BB gun.

The accused has been charged with one count of pointing a firearm and 2 counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

He was held for bail court.

    • Maybe u right Cole… it was a noise complaint before 10pm. And it’s not like he was a kid, he’s in his late 30s. Especially that he didn’t drop it right away when he saw it was cops. Really pushing your luck having to be told more than once. Cops want to make it home alive after their shift too.

  1. Wow. Now THAT is how you get yourself shot. What an insane thing to do!! They don’t know it’s a BB gun! Good on the police to handle that the way they did. Considering they had to give him SEVERAL commands! This could have been a horrible tragedy.
